Anton Monsted - short bio.
Anton Monsted was working on a masters degree in narrative theory when he ran away with the circus, joining Baz Luhrmann’s team on the feature film, "William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet” which was shot in Mexico and completed in the United States.

As Luhrmann’s assistant on the film, he discovered his love of music could be put to good use and he was mentored by music supervisor Karyn Rachtman. As the soundtracks to R+J sold more than 8 million copies worldwide, Monsted went on to head Luhrmann’s music division, Bazmark Music, from 1997 until 2001. In this time, Monsted and Luhrmann co-produced the enormously successful “Something for Everybody” album with the hit single “The sunscreen song”. Monsted continued his collaboration with Luhrmann on “Moulin Rouge”, a four year musical odyssey on which he was the music supervisor and executive music producer both for the film and the two subsequent soundtrack albums which sold a combined 7 million copies.

Based in Sydney, Anton is a freelance creative producer, specializing in music supervision for film, television and live events. His feature film credits include "William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet" and "Moulin Rouge" on which he was the music supervisor and executive music producer.

Anton has also served in the capacity of executive producer on two advertising campaigns devised by Baz Luhrmann, for Chanel in 2004 and Tourism Australia in 2008.

In between films, Anton has overseen music for fashion shows and major live events including the Australian Rugby League Grand Final and the celebrations surrounding the 75th anniversary of the Sydney Harbour Bridge as well as providing musical direction for Neil Perry's Rockpool Bar and Grill in Melbourne and Spice Temple restaurant in Sydney. Anton has also enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with chef Bill Granger as the music supervisor on three consecutive series of the television production "Bill's Food".

His music work continued on Luhrmann's feature film "Australia" on which he served as executive music supervisor as well as producer of ancillaries and marketing for Bazmark, delivering trailers, podcasts, a television special, and other publicity materials.
